Where are the passwords?

All the routers we sell now come with preset network names and passwords. The network name and password are usually on a sticker that is attached to the inside packaging. In addition, the network name and password are printed on the router itself, usually it is printed by their serial number information on the bottom side of the router.

We generally don’t change settings for customers unless they request to. If they still can’t login using the preset network name and password, there is a reset button on the back of the routers. If you hold this button down for 10-20 seconds, it will reset the router to factory defaults and they will be able to use the preset network name and password to login.

You can reset the router back to factory default settings. Your Internet service provider may request that you perform a factory reset on the router if you are troubleshooting connection problems. When you reset your D-Link, all network settings, passphrases and configurations are deleted.

Straighten a paperclip so you have at least an inch of straight wire.

Locate the “Reset” button on the D-Link router. The Reset button is in a tiny hole adjacent to the WAN or Internet port on most D-Link models.

Insert the paperclip into the Reset hole to press the button. Press and hold the Reset button for 10 to 15 seconds.

Release the Reset button. The D-Link router reboots. When the router powers back on, factory default settings are restored. You can now set up your router and configure your network.

Click the “Administration” tab in the Linksys interface. Under the Management sub-page, you will see your current username and password; change both to something that

Resetting your D-Link® router’s Wi-Fi password is easy:

  • Type your router’s IP address —192.168.0.1— into your Web browser.

  • At the login screen, select “Admin” from the drop down menu and enter your admin password.

  • Once you access the Web configuration screen, click “Setup” in the top menu.

  • Select the “Wireless Settings” link on the left-hand side.

  • From there, click on the “Manual Wireless Connection Setup” button.

  • Scroll down to the field representing my “Pre-Shared Key”. If you don’t see it, select a security mode from the dropdown menu at the bottom of the screen first.

  • Type in a new password. (I use a hybrid WPA/WPA2 security mode.)
