  4. Check Switch Test – ViP Model Receivers

If your screen says 015 (complete signal loss) press the menu button on your satellite remote and select option 1 (program guide) and select another channel

***This check switch test walk through is NOT for Hopper or Wally Receivers***

If you are still experiencing signal loss please follow the steps bellow:

1) Unplug your receiver for 10 seconds, and then plug the receiver back in

* wait while the receiver aquires signal and downloads program guide

*If this does not resolve the receiver issue please continue to step 2

2) make sure nothing is obstructing the satellite dish and that all connections are tight and secure

*if this does not resolve your receiver issue, please continue following the steps bellow:

Press the menu button on your remote and this screen will appear. Select “System Setup”

From the next screen please select “Installation”

From the next screen please select “Point Dish”

From the Point Dish screen please select “Check Switch” Note: A message may pop up indicating that the receiver is checking for available satellites please wait for this box to disappear before making selection.

From the Installation Summary screen please select “Test” **If you are to receive 129 signal, select “Alternate” before testing**

Once the Check Switch test has started please wait for the series of tests to be completed this may take up to 5 minutes. *If it tests “X” of 38, your system is not detecting the 33 switch in the system.

Once the test has been successfully completed you will see the above screen indicating and confirming your signal reception to the appropriate satellites. Please select “ Done”

Please allow your receiver a few minutes to lock on to and verify satellites as indicated by the green status bar on the bottom of the screen. Select “ Done”.

With the previous steps successfully competed select “Yes” This will start the process in which your receiver will receive a software update which is necessary for the receiver to have full functionality.

As indicated by the above screen the software download process has begun and may take anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes. It is very important that you do not disturb or power off the unit during this process. Doing so can cause a system reboot which can take 20 to 60 minutes.

Once the download has completed the receiver’s memory will be programmed as indicated above. This process may take anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes and once completed your receiver will power cycle itself bringing you to the screen below.

On this screen you will see that your receiver is acquiring satellite signal. This process may take anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes to complete.

If this does not resolve the signal issue, switch runs “x” of 38 during the test, or it comes back with the error “fewer satellites than previously detected,” please call Microcom Customer Service at 907-264-0052 for further technical support.
