The satellites are low in the southeastern horizon at about 130º azimuth 8° elevation.
1. With your receiver(s) and TV: connected to the Satellite (as diagrammed in the following pages),
you are ready to lock in on the satellite signal 119W. Below is a list of ways to find satellites.
a. Find the southeast using a compass. Make sure that the compass is at
least a foot away from other metal objects, and there are no magnetic objects or electronic devices
nearby (cell phones, keys, watches) Holding the compass so the needle can swing freely, turn the
compass until the dark end of the compass needle is aligned on the N. This points to magnetic
north. Start with dish pointed Southeast at about 130° azimuth (left to right) and elevation (up and
down) around 8°. Go to The Point Dish Screen: (see Check Switch last page) adjust dish as
needed.
b. Use a smart phone to download the app SatFinder Lite. You can find it in the itunes app
store and in google play store for free. Hold phone on arm of antenna near DPLMBF and point
Dish at Satellite 119W. Go to The Point Dish Screen: (see Check Switch last page) adjust dish as
needed.
c. Install your satellite finder between LNB and Coax next to the Satellite Dish (antenna)
Turn on receiver to supply electricity to satellite finder. Using compass or phone app to locate
satellite then find the strongest signal possible. Go to The Point Dish Screen: (see Check Switch
last page) adjust dish as needed.
d. Online go to dishpointer.com, put in your address, the 119W satellite is listed as 119W
DIRECTV 7S ECHOSTAR 14 ECHOSTAR 7. Using compass or phone app to locate satellite then
find the strongest signal possible. Go to The Point Dish Screen: (see Check Switch last page)
adjust dish as needed.
• Set the proper elevation after the dish is securely mounted: First, loosen the nuts securing the
two elevation bolts so that the dish easily moves up and down. Line up the elevation at about 8°,
you may have to adjust up and down. Loosen the bolts and position the dish to the Southeast
