  4. Transfer from Receiver to External Hard Drive
For 612, 622, 722, 722k:

Recordings can be moved to an External Hard Drive to save space and record more. Rental items such as Video on Demand and Pay-Per-View can not be transferred.

  1. Connect the External Hard Drive to the receiver
    Menu - Remote
  2. Select Yes on the Attention 852 pop-up
    Whats Hot - 2
  3. Under DISH Recordings select Send to Device
    Whats Hot - 3
  4. Select the recordings you want to transfer (selected recordings are indicated with a purple box)

  5. Select To Archive
    Whats Hot - 4
  6. Select View TV
    Whats Hot - 4
  7. Select Done on the Attention 862 pop-up

For 922 or Hopper:

External hard drives formatted for use with a DISH receiver should only be used with a compatible DISH receiver. If you connect your external hard drive to a non-DISH device and then reconnect it to your DISH receiver you may lose any programs saved to your external hard drive.

  1. Press the MENU button on the remote 

    The “Main Menu” screen should display

  2. Select “My Media Transfer” 

    The “Transfer” screen should display

  3. Select your receiver

  4. Select “External Device 1”

  5. Select “Next”

    A list of available events to transfer should display

  6. Select the event to transfer to EHD
     

    Selected event should be marked with a check

  7. Select “Transfer”
     

    “Attention 1006” should display

  8. Select “Yes”

    “USB Device Transfer Progress 848” should display

  9. When the transfer is complete, “USB Device Transfer Complete 854” should display. Select “OK” to finish.

    This message displays over the video if the transfer completes while watching TV
