DISH Network uses satellites 110/119/129 in order to receive their programming; international programming is located on 118.7. In order to warranty a Dish Network programming and installation there must be an unobstructed line of site available for 2 years, the term of a customers contract. Typical line of site issues are buildings, trees and mountains.Dish network can provide services if 119 is available even though there is no line of site for the other satellites. It is recommended that the customer package is the AT120 if no other satellites are available. You can receive higher packages, however, you will experience signal loss on the channels that are received on the other satellites.

DIRECTV uses satellites 99/101/103 in order to receive their programming. In order to warranty a DTV programming and installation there must be an unobstructed line of site available for 2 years. Typical line of site issues are buildings, trees and mountains. DTV cannot provide services unless all satellite locations are available at the location.

In the event you had a recent technician visit and they determined that there was a no line of site for one of the service providers, you may have a line of site for the other provider. Usually on an new connect the technician will determine at that time if you might have line of site for the other provider; if you wish to pursue services with the other provider, you will be referred back to your sales associate to begin the process of signing up for the alternate provider.
